Review 3D Printer Form 1+ SLA future is here
Review 3D Printer Formlabs Form 1+. Intricate designs of impressive imagination can now be transformed into reality with the Form 1+ SLA 3D Printer. It is an elegant machine and high resolution 3D Printer that can even fit on a desk. The machine delivers on a simple user interface, easy operation, and an overall excellent user experience.
The printer uses what is known as Stereolithography technology. This allows the printer to achieve layers as thin as 25 microns. The thick resin is filled in the tray first. Then the bed depresses into the tray and lifts up slowly layer by layer. A laser is directed towards the resin liquid that solidifies the layers to result in higher precision. This technology also allows the printer to print much faster than its FDM counterparts.
Input Material and More
As the name suggests, the Form 1+ SLA 3D Printer uses liquid instead of hard plastic for 3D printing. It uses a UV cured liquid resin and delivers a high degree of detailing. This also enables it to print many objects that would not be possible to print with filament-based printers. The input liquids on offer include the photopolymer resin, and clear resin, among others for different requirements of the user. The Form Finish kit is also included with the printer. It helps after the printing is completed and assists to take out and fine tune the final output.
Form 1+ SLA 3D Printer weighs in at around 18 pounds and can easily fit on any desktop, given its compact size. This also means that the printer has a small build area with a 4.9in X 4.9in X 6.5in build plate. The whole structure is enclosed by a UV blocking orange colored cover for safe operation. It has a detachable resin tray that has an optically clear bottom and a violet laser. The laser can convert the liquid resin into solid in the blink of eye. The overall design of the printer is elegant with curved edges and compact build.

It is extremely easy to use. It is delivered preassembled and there is no need for calibration either. It has to be connected to the platform to upload the file to be printed and the printing commences with the simple push of a button. After the printing is complete, the model has to be lifted out of the build plate into isopropyl alcohol to remove any unwanted resin sticking to the model.
There are certain pointers that should be taken care of. There should be no bubbles in the resin tray before the commencement of printing. If there are, you may have to wait for them to dissolve. Once a round of printing is over, the liquid should be filtered off, to get rid of any stray resin pieces floating in it. Also, the users have to be careful to keep it clean because it involves mirrors and lasers. Therefore, meticulous maintenance is absolutely necessary.
It is easy to install and work with, but given the novelty SLA technique, it cannot use traditional programs but only PreForm. The installation is a breeze and the menus are intuitively designed. The user interface is easy but there are not much customization options available. The default settings are good enough to get a new user started.
Form 1+ SLA 3D Printer is definitely one of the best 3D printers in its category. Also, it is difficult to draw a comparison between this technology and FDM. The print resolution is undoubtedly excellent and the print times are also impressive. It is definitely high on maintenance, however, if print quality is a top priority, there is no better option than Form 1+.
